“Jingle into Junction” this Sunday

Area residents are invited to “Jingle into Junction” this Sunday, Dec. 8, for a full afternoon of events.

The Grand Junction public library will host an open house from 12:30 to 4:30 pm. Holiday refreshments will be served.

Tickets for a Holiday Tour of Homes hosted by the Naked Ladies Garden Club will be available at the library. Homes will be open from 1 to 4 pm. Four homes are on the tour:

The home of Lee and Cheryl Meyer at 125 Sunset Drive features Christmas trees in the main living area and each bedroom, as well as special Christmas traditions.

The home of Jarred and Melody Larsen at 412 E. Main St. features century-old woodwork and hardwood floors. It is decorated as it may have been in the 1940s, complete with Bing Crosby collectibles.

The home of Larry and Mary Pote at 1006 E. Main St was built in 1948 by Jack and Blanche Mears, owners of the Wiltse and Mears auto dealership on Main St. The Rueter family owns the home and lived there for several years before the Potes arrived in Grand Junction in 2012. The Potes have set up a traditional cedar tree in Larry’s home office.

The home of Jan Scharingson at 1216 U Ave was built in 1973, with the garage and family room added in 2001. Guests will see Jan’s love for the Iowa State Cyclones, as well as some of her giraffe collection. Most of the ornaments and decorations have been made by friends and family and given as gifts over the years. Jan counts them as treasures; she uses them each year as they bring back memories of all who have been a part of her life.
